Hi,

I would like to know that for the year 2007-08, if no service tax return was filed then now do we have to file two halfyearly returns for 2007-08 or do I need to fill the details for two half -yearly period in one Return Form itself. Please help me out

both the returns has to be filed separately.

You have to file two saperate 2 return for Half yearly with Panalty of Rs. 1000 each for late filing of return. You can nt fill all 12months date in one form.

If don't file the service tax return for year 2007-08 u have to file 2 seprate returns along with the panelty of Rs. 2000 for each return. Also ensure timely payments of service tax, if service tax payments are also late then you have also required to pay interest @ 18.P.a.

Yes,

- you will have to file two separate returns for each half-year of 2007-08.

- penalty will be applicable for late filing of returns

- if service tax has not been remitted on time, interest @ 13% will be applicable

- some times, the concerned superintendent who receives the return will insist for a covering letter addressing to the Commissioner explaining the reason for not filing the return at the appropriate time.
