I have a transport service provider and have buses and trucks running in all of South India. I want to know whether service-tax is applicable on it? If yes, what is the rate? I also went through another site https://bit.ly/Smallbuiz that has a similar query. I want some more info on the same. The services that are being offered in this Intuit initiative is for free.

yes you are covered by service tax...
if you are providing services of goods transport then under GTA category...but generally it comes under reverse charge mechanism...hence service tax on your services are to be discharged by the recipient....
secondly if you are providing tours and travelling services then you yourself will have to discharge the service tax but on an abated value...it differs depending on the kind of package you provide...
