I am a consultant. My firm is registered for service tax. Now I have let out a commercial property on which I shall receive monthly rent , which is be subject to service tax. I wish to know whether I have to go for fresh service tax registration ( as the existing registration is in the name of my firm) ? It is also submitted that my firm is a proprietorship firm and the PAN number of my firm is my PAN only.

Since yours is a Propriteir ship company, you will have to include the commercial property in your ST1, this was the scenario up to 31st march 2011.
request other friends to comment since the service tax wef 1.4.2012 is based on negative list how the ST1 will be ammended.
