service tax on actors
one of my client is working in tv serial and he has been told to get service tax number because he will be crossing threshold limit in next 2 months. is it necessary to obtain the number? what is the rate of service tax and any abatements?? and please explain all the implications in detail which will help me very well.

Yes, service tax is applicable over film and Tv serial acting. You must get service tax registration as soon as threashhold limit of 9 lakhs is crossed, and start leving service tax from 10 lakhs onwards.

Service tax is applicable on artist working in tv serial and till date there is no abatement.
Rate of Service tax: 14 % SBC:.5% and KKC .5%
I also want add a point. Please consider entry 16 of mega exemption and advise client about the exemption (if applicable).

Under what category or profile should the actors be registered in Form ST-2 please? I mean service tax code.
