I have recently registered a company for Service Tax.

The 1st return will be due in October, i wanted to know:
Q.1 What are the documents to be attached with the return?

Q.2 Do we have to attach any extra documents if we are filing the return for the first time?

Q.3 If we want to file the return through ACES Website, then do we also have to submit the hard copy to the superintendent?

Q.4 Can we pay taxes manually through GAR 7 and file return online. Or we have to pay taxes also online if we want to file online return. ( Total ST liability is below 10 lakhs)

Q.5 Is there any need of digital Signatures?

01. no ducoments need to be attached in return.

02. no documents for first time either.

03. u dont need to submit hardcopy if u file online return.

04.its not possible to file online return if u have paid manual challan bcoz in online return, u need to mention CIN generated from system at the time of online payment.

05. no need of digital signature.

I disagree with Jinesh Shah on 4th pont in his reply. Challan Identification Number (CIN) is nothing but BSR Code of Bank ,Challan Date & Challan Serial Number Placed in order .

Example: BSR Code -0007877

Date - 09/07/2011

Challan Number - 00001

The CIN is 00078770907201100001

So even though we pay service tax through Challan we can file Serive Tax return Online

in case the service tax liability is NIL, i .e no challan is paid, then no need to send hard copy, but if any chllan is paid, then send a hard copy to R/O with challan xerox, and get dated acknowledghement under their seal and signature, it will save you from undue queries.
