Dear Friends we are into commercial coaching and training and have registered for service tax for the same. Now we are planning to conduct a 1 day workshop / seminar /  and provide to give refreshments to participants, and for this we might charge some 500 - 1000 rs, so is this charge subject to service tax, if yes then will it be booked under commercial coaching and training head or convention service head, > ?

"Convention" means a formal meeting or assembly which is not open to the general public, and dose not include a meeting or assembly the

principal purpose of which is to provide any type of amusement, entertainment or recreation

"commercial coaching and training" means any training or coaching provided by a commercial training or coaching centre;

As per above definition and as per me i would consider the same as "Convention"

so do we need to modify our ST1 form and add CONVENTION as a head under which we are offering service because this seminar we might conduct once in a bluemoon then for other months do we need to file return as NIL NIL ..
