Service Tax

Dear Ashish,

Earlier there was a notification to that effect that Fees for appearances will not be taxable..

But With Service Tax imposition on Legal Consultancy, I think that Notification will not work..

One more thing to remember is that if CA(is practising as an Individual & not firm) or the receipent is an individual then also service tax will not apply..

The exemption for CAs when they appear cannot diasappear and is very much a part of the law. The coverage of legal practitioners inot service tax would not and has not affected the coverage for CAs.
