Service/incometax payment refusal for govt nonaccountability

Queries 346 views 1 replies

Hello,

THis may sound layman's query, but I am interested in knowing whether any citizen can refuse to pay up Income or service tax on the grounds that the tax-payers money is wasted by the government on fraud, wasteful expenditure, etc. We can point out probably thoudands of such examples happening around us every day. What would be the consequences of such a step. What is the best way to initiate such step.

I know paying the taxes is a noble cause. But this query is considering that it cannot be only one way commitment. I request constitutional andclegal guidance on this matter.

Thank you and best regards.

Dear Friend,

I think we are going on different track. Whatever is statury liability as a taxpayer, it must be executed by paying them. There is no doubt as it is as per constitution. We cannot by pass any thing which is constitutional. One may go to Court and file PIL. I do agree with you on moral grounds but, as per the constitution, we all have to abide the legistation.

May be you may not agree with me, and, I do accept that there can be different view also.

Thank you and Regards..
