Hello Sir,

Can anyone help me out with my below question in regards to TDS.

We have a Senior citizen who render professional service (as an instructor/educational ) for us and we make his payment at the end of each programme which he successfully conducted for us.

Being a senior citizen, is he exempted from TDS or should we deduct the same. The instructor is not willing to work with us if we deduct TDS. Kindly advise.

A senioorr citizen is not exempted from TDS as such. if he gets an exemption certificate from the AO only then he is exempted other wise you have to deduct TDS.

Thanks Sir.

But is there any specific section states that ? Please let me knowm if any.

Section 197 and 197A of income tax act
