Scope of CS for a CA with Internal Audit Experience

Hi,

I am a CA with more than 5 years of experience in Internal Audit & SOX in different industries. Now I am planning to pursue CS as my career interests lie in statutory/ secretarial compliances.

Please let me know whether it is possible to switchover to secretarial function after qualifying CS, though I would not be having any experience other than Internal Audit.

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

It is possible to switch to secretarial practice aft' becoming a member of ICSI.... I presume u know that only one of the esteemed profession can be practiced at a time.. either CA or CS.... Lack of experience would make it a little difficult, but it can be overcome....

Thanks & Regards,

Rads

Ya, its possible to switchover to secretarial function after qualifying CS But Under Section 7 of the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 a member in practice cannot use any designation other than that of a Chartered Accountant, nor can he use any other descripttion, whether in addition thereto or in substitution therefore, but a member who is not in practice and does not use the designation of a Chartered Accountant may use any other descripttion.

For example, though a member cannot designate himself as a Cost Accountant, he can use the letters A.I.C.W.A. after his name, when he is a member of that Institute
