No upper age limit. U can continue as long as u want until u become CA. There are many CA's who are from sc. bakground. U can start preparing for cpt.. There wont b problem for u as u from sc bakground in practical papers lyk cost and financial managment
Ur 25 now. U r science student and now u want to be a CA. That means after 10th till now you wasted your time. Now you will admit in CPT. At age of 26 you will clear your IPCC. No guarantee that you can pass in first attempt. Suppose you clear in first attempt then at the age of 27 you will start your articleship. At the age of 30 your first attempt of final will due. Again no guarantee to clear final in first attempt. You can be at the stage of tension and depression if you wont clear in first attempt everything. So think such factors before pursuing career in CA. Otherwise it will happen that " na yaha ke rahe na vaha ke"
People here would just say to continue as long as you can, start CPT, no upper age limit. Aisi sab bolne ki aur motivate karne ki baatein hai. But what I said is just to be cautious. Bcoz starting CA at this stage is like you can't afford one more attempt.
Yes I know d risks and attempts,, I was forced to do science ug and now I'm n my final year, I could not concentrate on tat.. But ppl say now finish ur ug n do CA as it has no upper age limit.. My query is should I go in science career and forget CA or do CA ..

Ab final year tak koi pahoch jaye to atleast graduation to complete kar hi dena chahiye. At least you should have one back up if later you repent on decision of stepping in CA.

From my experience Science background will be an added advantage for the CA studies, both academically and professionally, for the reason that you possess analytical skill.

Dont worry about the age, and wastage of time till now.

Think positively that you can clear CA by the age of 30, as it would be better than those unsuccessful candidates who started at the age of 20 , but couldnt complete at all.

SD Bala is one of the famous author for Accounting Standard books , who started studying CA after his retirement. Considering that you are just half of his age.

All you need is a positive mind, and be ready to accept whatever comes and chase your dream.

As you are in final year, I suggest you to complete the graduation at any cost, and simultaneously start preparation for the CA studies as well.

@ roshan & nisha...i accept Roshan words completely. Even am a science student in 12+ & now am in ca final stage. At that point of time, I heard that why u switching ur route even if u have a gud score but I wanted to be a ca. See, am here in final stage today. Commitments that passion requires. If u have finished degree then no need of first stage called Cpt. U can directly enter for next level called ipcc on the basis ur science degree certificate. Famous author S.d Bala joined his ca around the age of 56. Still u r 25 years old, if u dedicate urself then u can be ca in next 4 years..max in 5years. Dont listen anybody's negative words on it. If u really want to do ca then go for it. Visit www.icai.org>> students..u get details.
U dont have interest at all in science then one day u surely feels regrets. So, now in final year rite then finish off ur final year..immediately after ur exam..get register for ca direct entry scheme for degree students. So go for ca.
First think deeply before starting and once you start then dont listen to other people. Complete your scince degree first. I am also from science background till 12th. I felt it little difficult to start because I never wanted to get into it. But I completed my CS and doing CA Final. I think first you should know about the profession and if u like it then enter with your 200%. I am sure you can make it, its just about liking towards the profession.

I agree with Kishor, that if you choose to go by direct entry scheme after graduating, you can directly start your articleship, and finish it off at the earliest.

A CA student loose his time unuseful when he waits to start articleship.

Once you start articleship, you are into the profession, gaining experience as the time moves on.

You may continue with the CA firm even after your articleship and continue your CA studies, but be sure to find a good CA firm for your articleship giving you vast exposure.
