Schedule 112A CSV template

Hi Team,

Till last year the 112 template was having only one column of "Share/Unit acquired(1a)" which had value of "AE" and "BE", this year we see additional column "Share/Unit Transferred(1b)", does anyone help me what should be the value in this column?

Quick Summary
Query asks about new Schedule 112A CSV template where column 1(b) Share/Unit Transferred appears and what values to enter. Discussion clarifies AE/BE codes: BE for before 23 July 2024 and AE for on/after 23 July 2024, based on transfer date, with reference to official CSV instructions and formatting rules.

First one is for shares sold before 22. 07.2024 which is taxed at 10% while second one is for sell after that day which is taxed at 12.5%.

Thanks for the response, however I need to know the exact values that needs to be added in the excel sheet so it doesnt give any validation error.

You are required to fill the sell value, cost of aquisition & expenses relative to transfer, separately for each time segment. Rest utility takes care.

No sir, Vikrant's question is something else. its regarding the second column in the Excel templete. In the templete we need to manually enter whether the share was sold on or after 23rd July. So Vikrant is trying to check if there is a code for the same.

@ Vikrant, In case the shares purchased are after 31st Jan 2018. you will not need to fill in everything. you just need to update it twice by clubbing the 23 July sales categorising it before and after.

In the  new column 1 (b) use BE for "before 23 july" , use AE for "on or After 23 July " based on the transaction date related to share tranfer.

For the details, you may refer CSV Help file of Schedule 112A tab.

The Schedule 112A CSV template for AY 2026-27 has updated column requirements. The template download is inside the ITR-2 or ITR-3 XML utility, not from the help section.

To get the correct template:
1. Open the Income Tax e-filing portal
2. Go to File Income Tax Return, select AY 2026-27 and the correct ITR form
3. Download the Offline Utility
4. Inside the utility, go to Schedule 112A and look for the "Download Template" button

Common upload errors to fix:
- Date columns must be in DD/MM/YYYY format (not YYYY-MM-DD)
- All amounts in RUPEES only, not lakhs
- ISIN must be exact: 12 characters, no spaces, case-sensitive
- Blank rows at the bottom of the CSV cause a parsing failure ,  delete all empty rows
- Do not change column headers even slightly ,  any mismatch causes the entire upload to reject

For grandfathering: for shares or equity MF units acquired BEFORE 31.01.2018, the cost of acquisition is the higher of the actual cost or the Fair Market Value (FMV) as of 31.01.2018 (limited to sale price). This [capital gains guide with the CII table](https://taxgarden.in/blog/cost-inflation-index-cii-table-formula-indexation-capital-gains) shows how to compute the deemed cost.

Shares purchased post 31.01.2018 , would like to fill .csv file . There are some more fields in 112 a, csv AY 2026-27. Need guidance on filling the .csv
