as far as my knowledge CA's having thorough knowedge of IT have a vital career scope in:

1. CAAT tools

2. ERP system

3. SAP

4. XBRL and IFRS. If one have a knowledge of both, he has a bright future ahead.

5. Setting up a System of Internal control. etc

My friends are working in Top IT company (No Name Pls) and they are NOT happy with the type of job they are doing there.

Jobs for CA in IT company is basically MIS reporting and they are going to leave the organisation soon due to lack of career growth.

In ICAI campus August 2011, one of my friend who is CA got offer from Top IT company (No name pls) and turned down the offer after knowing job descripttion.

ERP Implementation job fetch you high salary but you have to travel a lot. Because of this, you may suffer after marriage or 35 years of age where your body will not accomodate much travelling.

SAP is a very good career option and if you join any organisation where SAP is in force, you can learn various modules at free of cost. Good career ahead.

XBRL and IFRS are hot topics now and lot of KPO companies are developing softwares for these processes. You can expect softwares similar to Saral Tax, Computax (Example only) to ensure compliance with XBRL. So i am not sure about career growth.

Lot of firms are ready to hire CA's for Internal audit and establishing internal controls in organisation. But i dont know why CA's are not interested in these areas.

Above points are just opinions based on my experience and others may differ.

One my friend after doing his MBA ..with ICWA he enter in to the field IT and learns Java,c,c++  and he is now working in a ERP software field which is half IT and half Finance
