Normally the ITR is filed and revised return is submitted when necessary, is it ok if any ITR e.g. ITR1 filed as original and revised is ITR2 or ITR2 submitted and revised is ITR1 etc. how does the taxman treat this.

Yes you can revise the return. There is no restiction on changing the type of form while revising a return.
