Its Scrutiny assessment, and as such all the details of the income would be verified by assessing office.

You are required to file return and submit all the details like bank statements, purchase and sell receipts of your agricultural producees along with patwari certificate or revenue land records.

Advisable to hire any local CA for help.

your case might have been opened to verify cash deposits. if the sources were from the agricultural receipts, then you need to submit
1. land documents , pattain support of holding of agricultural land
2. bills and vouchers in support of sale of agricultural produce
3. certificate from competent authority certifying that during the relevant period, agricultural activities were carried out, etc

Notice u/s 148 is issued when there is some income which has been ESCAPED from Assessment or there was income but you didn't show it. It is issued before making INCOME ESCAPING ASSESSMENT u/s 147.

If all the receiving is being clarified with proper explanation and Officer is satisfied then there would not be any trouble.

And there must be Explaination mentioned in the Notice that what are the REASONS TO BELIEVE that Income has escaped. If you don't have any knowledge on Basis of which Notice has been issue, You could asked the Officer to supply the REASONS TO BELIEVE.

Once you got the Reasons you should check that and prepare your Explaination for that. Be it cash deposit then Explain it's Source, Be it Any Land Purchase etc and payment made etc then get the Land documents and details from Patwari etc. and explain the payment amount etc.

This Notice is not something to be worried about if you could explain everything mentioned in it.

But yes I would also suggest that you should contact any CA if you feel trouble in the procedure.
