registration of sole proprietorship

I want to run a tour and car rental operations in sole propertiorship. I need a bank a/c in my company name but bank is asking for registration certificate. Please advise what to do how to do in this matter.

Where can one find all the laws pertaining to a new sole proprietorship firm? like how to get it registered, if one does, whether sales tax and VAT are applicable etc etc. My business is online, selling diff. genre of books. Thats all... Any replies are appreciated...

I am a salaried person and recently opened a proprietorship firm and got it registered it with the local authoritity. I am providing Engineering & Technical Consultancy Services alongwith continuing with my salaried job since Dec'10,2008. I will be having 2 no of employees. I want to get advice on what books shall I maintain so as to have a neat and clean records and maximim tax benifits. Also I want to know if I require any other registrations.
