While submission of my Investment proof for the year 2017-18, on Jan 2018, my employer is insisting to pay and submit the Premium receipt of Insurance Policy Payable on 31st Mar 2018. Is this a correct approach?
Do I really have to pay all the premium payable before the submission, even though that is not due?
You need to give a declaration stating that you will pay before 31st March along with previous year premium receipt.
Further, you have to pay before 31st march and provide the receipt to employer.

Yes, Investment proofs are based on payment dates. So no necessary of declaration.
You can claim only if paid, If you are not able to pay all the premium payables before the submission, then claim the same while ITR filing.
