what is single transferable vote & system of cumulative voting

there are two main methods of proportional representation for appointment of directors:-

1) Single tranferable vote-
means if there r 6 candidates & 3 seats r
available then each shareholder get 3 votes
which he can cast in any favour

2) Cumulative voting-
say if 6 candidates r there & 3 seats than
each shareholder gets 6 votes which he can
cast in favour of one or distribute
accordingly
