{Dear Mr. Raj, though the form for getting back the excess paid is issued - you know how difficult it is to get back money from the dept.

2nd point :- in the form itself it is given that it will adjust if there were any dues to the dept while returning.

-now think of this point -will there be no defaults notice at any point of time. Suppose you have paid rs10,000 there is a pending defaults notice online which may not be visible to anybody for RS.2000/- for pan mismatch. - This mistake can be corrected. But the dept. while returning refunds only rs.8,000) 

After filing correction return for this 2,000 you have to go to the dept. again and again and again and again to convince the dept. that it can't adjust as a correction return for this has been filed.

under these circumstances ! I suggest you as the amount paid is only interest this must be few thousands only.  Hence you file a correction return with the PAN No. of your office boy or a clerk . then let that boy / clerk file IT return and claim refund.  This will take much less time and least cumbersome.
