Received "Challan is not available for the AY" reason in Intimation u/s 143(1).

Hi All,

 

I had filed ITR for AY 2022-23 on 14/07/2022. Today, I have received Intimation u/s 143(1) with reason "Challan is not available for the AY".

I have double checked the challan receipt and ITR form. All the details(BSR code, Serial Number of Challan , Date of Deposit, etc.) were correctly filled by me.

 

What should I do in this case?

I checked form 26 AS and I can see the self assessment tax details there for AY 2022-23 with date of deposit : 14-jul-2022.

This clearly looks like an issue with the income tax system.

What is the last date to respond to Intimation u/s 143(1)?

Usually it takes three to seven days for the Tax Information Network (TIN) - NSDL-eGov now protean) to confirm a challan payment and for it to appear in form 26AS. It also appears that the assessment software is not fed with the current data in 26AS and is fed with old 26 AS data where your challan payment does not appear.

You have to file for Rectication within 30 days of the 143(1) demand date.. but don't be in a hurry. File for rectification around 9th/10th Aug 22( well within 30 days of 143(1)  Intimation /Demand date) to reprocess. Hopefully the ITD would have updated the 26AS data fed to the assessment software,rectifying the wrong demand.....

I am facing the same issue. I had even filed for rectification request "twice". Still I got the same demand intimation today. What should I do?
