RCM on overseas purchase

Is it really required to raise self-invoice and pay IGST under Reverse Charge Mechanism on overseas purchases, if the vendor didn't issue an invoice?

Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the requirements for Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) on overseas purchases. It confirms that a self-invoice is necessary even if the overseas vendor doesn't provide one. Furthermore, it explains that IGST must be paid under RCM, followed by claiming Input Tax Credit (ITC) where applicable, subject to specific sections of the law.

Yes self invoicing is required...................

And do I be required to pay the IGST under RCM? Or, just the self invoice without RCM is sufficient.

Will have to pay RCM and then claim ITC also if available subject to section 16 & 17
