Racing towards Budget 08 !!!!!

Hi its gr8 to have such kind of initative for discussion on budget. Please let every one discuss on some or the other point. Currently my point would be the high taxation for salaried people and less of deductions available. Atleast standard deduction should be back.

All the deductios & expentions of income tax should be dirctly corrilated with price index so that if price index increases income will increases as well as deductions & exemptions increases accordingly.

My concern is indirect taxes.. We're at a crucial juncture now.. While we aim to increase international compeditiveness in manufacturing, we cannot ignore the millions who are still not benifitted by this uneven growth.. I hope there is rationalization of the indirect tax structure and rates to facilitate growth of the whole country..

the weaker sections of the soceity need more attention in this year's budget. staying in cities, does not even give the glimse of what is happening in the rural parts of india. people are still dying of hunger and thirst leave apart the other basic nessecities of shelter etc. more than 65% of the total population still resides in the rural areas. this budget should ultimately be formed for the benefit of these weaker sections of people. the government should reach upon certain conclusions with regard to the cancellation of loans for the farmers in vidharba district of maharashtra. yes this would entail for higher tax rates in both direct and indirect. but thinking on overall basis, the nation has to feel the pinch for some more years before we are set to be called as a developed nation.

I would suggest either the slab Rs.1,10,000 should increase or Deduction u/s 80c & 80ccc should be Rs.100000 each.

deductions u/s. 10A, 10B should be extended for atleast another 5 yrs. FBT should be rationalised. The rate should be brought down to 20%. Obviously the BEL should be raised to 1.50 lacs or atleast 1.35 lacs. Std deduction on salary u/s. 16(i) may be reintroduced. Ch. VI A deductions also need to be enhanced.
