If on Rs. 1000 service tax is levied at 12.36% then sales bill amt is rs 1123.6. If entire amt is received then what should be written in the cloumns of service tax return ?
1) Gross Amt recd ??? weather 1000 or 1123.6
2) Taxable value on which service tax is payable rs 1000
3) service tax 123.6

In ST 3 You will write Rs 1000 as Gross Amount Recd. Further Rs 1123.6 as Taxable value and Break up of Service Tax as Basic, Education Cess & Higher Education Cess.

For the purpose of filing service tax return, gross amount received would be 1000/-
Taxable value would also be Rs. 1000/-
break up for above shall be given as Value @ 5 % @ 12 % etc. at column no.3 (I) f
