30 March 2012A service provider is providing construction service to a 12AA registered society. The society owns a building and it has to get same renovated. The building is used for educational purposes. Whether there is any liability of service tax on the services provided?

Respected Ma'am,
As per my knowledge, Service Tax shall be applicable on the Renovation of the Building owned by the Society under "Commercial or Industrial Construction" Service.

Respected Madam,
As far as i know , Service tax is applicable as per sec 65(25b) - repair, alteration, renovation or similar services in relation to , building or civil structure, pipeline or conduit.
Correct me if wrong.

Kindly confirm whether the above mentioned case is also not covered under the negative list presented in the finance bill 2012?
