Based on the ICAI guidelines regarding the Practical Training Assessment (PT) Test:
The PT Test is an assessment conducted by ICAI to test the practical knowledge gained by students during their articleship.
-
Eligibility: Generally, students are eligible to appear for the Level 1 test after completing their first year of practical training and the Level 2 test after completing their second year.
-
Current Status: Since October 11, 2021, the ICAI has discontinued the practice of including these assessment grades in the CA Final marksheet. Instead, a virtual certificate is generated for students upon completion of the CA course, which can be accessed via the PT Test portal.
-
Requirement: Because your articleship was completed in April 2016, you fall well outside the typical window for these assessments. As the grades are no longer part of your formal marksheet and the program has shifted to a virtual certificate model for current candidates, there is no requirement for you to retroactively appear for these tests.
In summary, you are not required to take the PT test, especially given that you completed your articleship years ago and the assessment structure for PT has since been updated by the Institute.
