Procedure on death

Tax queries 553 views 3 replies

Hi,

my father passed away in august 2010. I had the following queries.

  1. Can I file returns on his behalf. It is pending for AY 10-11 and AY 11-12. Do I need to provide any documentation?
  2. Can I keep filing returns for few years, assuming he is earning interest on few loans and deposits.
  3. How do I make myself authorised for his PAN / IT returns /  any other IT matter.

My father was survived by myself and my mother. Can I be the representative for all the matters related to IT.

1) you have to get the deposits transfered in your name, by virtue of nomination, succession or any other process as accepted by bank or deposit agency.

2) your documents display the fathers name, and you are entitled to get legal representative. in case of disbursement of deposits of banking assets they will need NOC from other surviving members.
