Quick Summary
This discussion explores whether printouts from Tally software are mandatory for maintaining accounts. While some argue that digital backups and supporting documents are sufficient, others highlight the importance of printouts, especially for audits, to properly document closing entries and month-end accruals. The consensus leans towards maintaining digital backups and authenticated supporting documents, with printouts potentially being beneficial for specific audit requirements.
Maintenance of Books of account in tally or other software is sufficient, There is no requirement to take printout of tally entry or account. You can keep back-up of tally for your future purpose. You also have to maintain hard copy /soft copy duly authenticated file of all the supporting documents for entry made by you in tally,...like purchase bill, sale bill, bank statement, expenses bill/vouchers ect.
I Disagree with previous answer becoz he is ignorant of the audits... I know there are ways to check trandactions in software. especially all trails are being recorder especially in sap.
All closing entries and month end accruals are positively to be.maintained with proper backup. all cash bank vouchers to be maintained seperately. this is applicable for every software whether tally or sap...
