What is Good and Better Option . ........................... to Practise or to be engaged in service.

My Views

Practise is a good option if u have money and knowledge and in practise u get to explore your knowlegde and get to learn many new things.

In service you are forced to do the same repititive things and then slowly and steadily we resist to change and then our brain stops working however there is a choice with u to change and move on but even once you are in one field and it becomes very difficult to change (eg : accounts to tax or accounts to finance) as we specialise in the subject and employer dont want to give a chance but want us to do same job .so at times it becomes difficult.

However in todays scenario if u will see 80% CA's go for Service rather than practise.

Ha ha,,,,,,,, Because of this only Practice is better..........

Bhakti,

You have missed out a essential point for practice i.e. "Reference" . If you think of practice then you must have good industrial references so that it makes easy for yu to get good clients. Its also needed Communication skills, knowleadge, Money etc as you said.

In service there is no such complicate effords and if you say that we confined to one area if we go for service then please note : Ultimately you need to focus on one area only as you can not be excel of each and every area of accounting & taxes though its boring and monotonious.

friends i have one question in order to get exposure is it advisable to work with a ca firm as an employee and after 2 yrs. become a partner in such firm?

what can be the consequences cause as in current scenario not much job is available in corporate sector i think that can be a good option.

If you have a drive to make money and achieve greater heights, practice is a best option. But you should have good financial support and contacts. Otherwise, service is best which gives steady income without much surprises.

Well, Practice needs COntacts, Opening capital, Long gestation period...... And it includes taking alot of risk......

If people say that service is better for the long term, they are looking backwards because Practice was better in the 1970's and 1980's when India was unknown the Top accounting firms, finance firms, that employ CA's.... India's job market for professionals has developed recently.... And it isgrowing at an exponential rate....

To contradict myself, I would say that today a Fresh CA better go for practice if he has already built up contacts, he gets a ready made client base from his dad, etc........

Else, Service is the Best... And thats exactly what the fresh CA's are doing....

On the basis of my personal & 3 year corporate experience i would say service is a good option especially is today's economic meltdown from the point of view of Fixed Income.
