Post qualification courses by icai

Hi!

In order to gain some specialised knowledge and keep myself associated with studies I want join some courses. So I give a thought to do Post Qualification Courses offerd by ICAI.

Kindly suggest will it be a value addition to do the course. How about the following courses, they are also cost effective:

Management Accountancy course

Corporate Management  course

Tax Management course

Also, there is a requirement to do 2 years training after joining the course. I am not clear about this whether one could show his current employment which I started after completing CA as a training. The requirement is to do training in a company having min. paid-up capital of Rs. 25 lacs or Turnover of Rs. 5 Crores.

Last query is whether Certification courses offered by the ICAI like DISA, IFRS, etc. are better than the above.  [Please keep the area of one's interest out of consideration for replying this query, give a general view.]

Hi Ravi,

About your query, if you are taking up the management course after being a CA, it should be only because you want to improve on your managerial skills because it will not give you any further knowledge into your subjects. However, DISA and IFRS courses are to improve your technical skills. They will help you find a more challenging and diversified role in an organisation.

My opinion - take up DISA/IFRS as per your career preferences.

Thanks & Regards

Hi, Thanks a lot Sheli. I thought these courses may provide some technical knowledge on specific areas as the name of the course suggests. I didn't go through the contents of subjects. You seem absolutely right as ICAI charges a very meager amount for these courses as compared to IFRS, DISA.

Appreciate for your concern.

Regards,

Ravi Thapa.

DISA is basically for those who like AUDIT & INFO.TECH both! Its a deep deep study of what we learnt in MICS/ISCA in CA Final plus a whole new view of approaching auditing! it gives u a good insight on IT audit & allied activities! IFRS is the need of time! So think on going for DISA/IFRS! All thr best!

@ Ravi

You may consider to pursue Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) course from ISACA or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from IIA if you want to go in deep study about IS Audit / Internal Audit. Both these courses are having global acceptance.

Hi

I am a recently qualified CA and about to join Infosys as SAP consultant
I would like to know from you, being an SAP FI/CO consultant, how does IFRS certification course help me in my career

I request you to tell me how an SAP fi/co consultant gain more advantage by doing a certification course in IFRS

would you suggest me to go for ifrs only or any other post qualification course, taking into consideration of my SAP career

also can u explain me how will be the career as an SAP consultant, can u pls share your experiences

dont mind as i am asking u many questions, kindly understand my excitement in career building

@ Mahesh

I understand your enthusiasm for career building Mahesh. First I would like to congratulate you for the new job. Second, welcome to the ERP world.

I would straightaway go to answer your ques "how does IFRS certification course help me in my career".. well, in these times when India is evolving financially, IFRS is the essence of all the accounting theories, guidelines and standards. As a CA, wherever you will work, you will be expected to know how an organisation operates in such financial environment. Be it IFRS, be it GST, be it DTC....you should know all or atleast have a good deal of idea if need arises for you to apply these. GST and DTC are still not finalised and the date of application is not yet fixed. However IFRS have been incorporated into books of accounts of many org and some more are still in the process of adopting IFRS.

“I request you to tell me how an SAP fi/co consultant gain more advantage by doing a certification course in IFRS.”

As a CA and SAP Consultant, IFRS knowledge will help you configure their financial systems according to new standards. Also there are many organisations across the globe who are upgrading their system to be in sync with IFRS. So the knowledge you possess is applicable to almost every country in the world.

“Would you suggest me to go for ifrs only or any other post qualification course, taking into consideration of my SAP career.”

I would suggest you do ERP course by ICAI or DISA if you have made this decision to continue and settle in this profile.

“also can u explain me how will be the career as an SAP consultant, can u pls share your experiences “

I would consider myself lucky Mahesh. I got my first project in Bangalore which was an SAP implementation project...People pray to get an implementation project in this profile. I learnt a lot and today I am so confident that I can answer almost any question about SAP FI atleast. The growth potential in financial terms is very high. Later, you can move to managerial roles also. And because you work on different projects, for different clients, in different teams...you never feel saturated. This profile is good for me I would say. I would encourage you to join and let yourself decide if the profile suits you and you want to continue.

Cheers

@ Sheli

Thank you very much for your advice, suggestions and also sharing your experiences

Now I am very relaxed and all my confusions reached an end

Your post gave me more confidence and I really thank your guidance

Thanks and regards,

Mahesh

can u pls tell me from where i can do sap course and the expected cost?

can anybody plz tell me what is the eligibility for icai  ERP COURSES FOR  SAP ? only after graduation or after  +2 ??

Hi All,

I have a query on IFRS course offered by ICAI. I understand that the course certificate is valid only where CA certificate is valid. i mean, it does not have global acceptance. Please let me know if my understanding is correct and that, if the same is worth to go ahead.

Thanks
