Please Help regardng Service Tax

Queries 1194 views 3 replies

Dear Sir.

This query is regarding Service Tax payment. My father has  registered and filled the ST Form 2 in 2003 under Manpower Services.

In these last 4-5 years however, his firm has never managed to cross more than 4 lacs annually and therefore could never pay any Service Tax ever.I wanted to know if there are any exemptions if your earnings is low(and how much) and if there are any payment that needs to be made then what are the penatly charges...

Also, he has changed his office premises a month ago and wanted to know what is the procedure of changing the address and what are the documents that needs to be provided to change the address ( Would the Bank Cheque Book with the new address be sufficient).

Please help.

Thanks

Shakti

Hi

In my opinion "Surrender the registeration Number".

Yes, exemption is available i.e. if your turnover below 10 lakh thn u dont required to get registred under Service Tax and pay service tax OR if in subsequent years your turnover become lower thn exemptin limit thn u should surrender the same . In urs case both things are applicable so without any doubt go ahead.

Sachin

Hi,

In my opinion you must surrender your registration certificate because your father's total service fees is less than the basic exemption limit(i.e. 10 lacs for F.Y. 2008-09).
