I want to pursue B.Com and then start doing CA. I'm writing CPT this June. My dad is a CA and he is saying that if i do B.Com my mind will stray and i wouldn't be interested in doing CA when i get graduated. But i am strongly against it. I've dreamt of becoming a CA since i was a child. And i strongly believe that i would pursue CA after college and even that i can do it side by side. Is it possible? or what my dad says is true?

Your dad knows you better than us and you know yourself than anyone else. He is wearing a wise hat, knowing what a Bcom course offers at the end of the day. Most cases it is college time , jolly time and he seem to be apprehensive that your focus will go astray because of the college life. From a parent point of view, he is right in his thinking. It is an age which changes you from being an teenager to a man, so his thinking may be on those grounds.

You should know your responsibiltyas to what to do, I know the word responsibilty is too much for a young mind like you. But trust me, nothing comes easy in life. Every mistake is an experience and if you din't err, you would not know the real meaning of life. Only if you have strong determination in pursuing your CA, you must convince your dad and join for degree, otherwise follow what he says.

After class 12th when i decided to join CA i took admission in B. Com (H) by correspondence and started preparing for CPT as well as B. Com, given more weightage to CPT and cleared it after 1st year B. com exam. As you mentioned your dream is to become a CA go for this mode. As early you start early you finish. Best of Luck
Study B Com thoroughly and then
Please go for college full time B.Com, enjoy yourself, take part in other activities with. Some focus on studies. Later seriously start preparation for C A and try get through first time itself. You will never get back your college life, it will be of great help in transforming into a responsible adult, be mindful of bad company and don't acquire ill habits. CA means lot of hardwork and focus, since it's your dream am sure you will not move away from it. I hv seen qualified ca s at work who don't hv the maturity which a qualified ca after regular college has, further there is more to life than studies, your college will bring out your inherent good qualities provided you don't bunk college and hang around malls, watching movies. I myself had this confusion and it was my father who wanted me to first finish regular college and I tot he was wasting time. Later over the years iam thankful to him as I understand how much it had helped me in growing as an independent person. All the Best.

You are thinking in a wrong way. If you complete B.com in a relaxed way there is no chance of becoming a chartered accountant. Prepare for CA..Simulteneously do the B.com through private registration. ( It is advised that to take it from some lienint universities in Tamil nadu , Then you will not have to spent more time on degree studies. If we do not get the CA, we can attempt tests with graduate level and seek employments)Your father is correct and you are thinking in a wrong way. You may lose some college life, but it will be good for your career.

Mr/Miss. whatever you are, to be frank, do what your dad says. Sorry no offence but by reading your query it seems that you don't know anything so follow your dad's instructions. Bcom is full time pass course and it'll betray your mind. Nobody ask for graduated person. But imagine within this 2-3 years you'll be a half CA and imagine the happiness of your dad. Now imagine after 3 years you're just Bcom. So start doing CA now and do side by side your favourite BCom. First work on your childhood dream. All the best! May God bless you!

Its Totally ur choice

Let me make it simple even if u earn crores in future u won't get the age nd college life again... I did my cpt right after 12th cleared cpt in first attempt while I was in 1st month of college.. Had to take decision whether to continue college or quit it... I took the decision to continue college while pursuing Ipcc had a tuff time of 2 months before Ipcc exam morning class evening college etc etc but I never gave up because I had desire to become a ca had to quit one semester exam due Ipcc exam... Gave my exam when I was in 2nd year both groups cleared in first attempt and u know wat I was a star in my department with the knowledge I gained nd respect of being a ca final student... Enjoyed my 3rd year because u hve to learn a lot in ur articles..... So if u desire to become a ca nothing can stop you... Go for it attend college hve fun enjoy the age but don't let ur parents down. Just wanna say it's possible my friend all the best.

I think it will be better for you to take admission to full time B.com & simalteneously give CPT exam, because these are professional courses jittna jaldi pass karoge utna accha hai

Being a ca student i would suggest u , pls evaluate ur actual potential , r u willing to do hours of study and ready to sacrifice other things due to time constraint now. If u r ready go for it because u hv a fresh mind and enthusiasm right now and now where u wanna mould it u can easily mould it. But moreover u hv to understand ur own interest and potential that u can only tell to urself . Because there is no comparision of b.com and ca so just think abt it and take a right decision as per ur capability.
