Perquisite hotel stay

161 views 1 replies
My employer has given 21 days hotel stay on relocation. As per income tax act if hotel stay provided for a period of 15 days then it's doesn't count as taxable perquisite.
I want to know whether cost of entire 21 days will be counted for value of perquisite or only 6 days will be counted for that

Since you stayed for 21 days, you have exceeded the 15-day limit allowed for the tax exemption. Consequently, the cost of the entire 21-day stay is likely to be considered a taxable perquisite in the hands of the employee, rather than just the "excess" 6 days. You should consult with your company's payroll or a tax advisor to confirm how they will report this in your Form 16.
