Period Of holding for convertible debentures

When convertible preference shares are converted into equity shares and sold,
Period of holding is taken from Date of acquisition of convertible preference shares.

Does the same apply to convertible debentures?

And of what year will the cost inflation index be?
Date of conversion or Original date of acquisition of convertible debentures/pref shares?

period of holding is taken from the date of acquisition of convertible debentures / preference shares
the cost of acquisition of converted share = cost of acquisition for such convertible debentures / preference shares

the benefit of indexation will not apply to long term capital gains arising from the transfer of bonds and debentures
- except
1. capital indexed bonds issued by the government; OR
2. sovereign gold bond issued by RBI under the sovereign gold bond scheme, 2015
When convertible are debentures are converted into shares,
and then sold,
the capital asset being sold are shares and not debentures....so indexation benefit should be allowed right?

If yes then what would be the year of CII.

What would be the CII if convertible preference shares and converted and then sold ?
if the debentures or preference shares are converted into share and such share are sold then,

the benefit of indexation is available from the date of allotment /acquisition of debentures / preference share
Thank you very much😊😊
Period of Holding, COA, & CII all three shall be taken from the date of Original shares or Debenture (if converted into share and sold).
