My client is a pensioner and has a tax liablity of 20000. he has not filed IT returns yet for the last final year (last date July 31st'13). The sources of income is from Pension and interest from Bank FD's The question is will a scruitny or a notice is expected if he files the returns now? What are the chances of scruitny or notice if the tax payer files a late or belated returns. Please advice

he can still file belated return....just deposit the tax amount and then file return of income...need not to worry about scrutiny etc...
