Pension of deceased recovered

Tax queries 290 views 1 replies

My father passed away in April 2022. But due to procedural delays, his former employer continued to pay pension for May and June and recovered the excess payment (of May and June) in July. However, the 26AS still reports the original payment.

Should the information be denied in AIS? If we don't deny it, isn't it must for the legal heir to report the pension in his/her income and pay tax? What should be done?

Thanks

Sri

Recover the money, report for differences and revert.
