Monthly pension is taxable u/h Salary as usual.

Commuted pension is exempted in case of Government employee or employee of local authorities or statutory corporation[section 10(10a)(i)].

No he cannot claim 80GG exemption.

Why cannot he claim 80GG?He pays rent

Though matter of litigation; but generally to be claimed by an assessee having employment or doing business/profession.

mrs x is a government employee, she receives monthly salary of RS. 23000 as well as family pension of 15000, so how she will fill a income tax return, does she have to show her pension amount in her salary's ITR form....??

Family Pension by Mrs X is not to be clubbed with her Salary. In ITR1 - the individual will have to select 'Family pension' from the drop-down under Income from other sources.

In ITR2- one has to enter Family Pension in Schedule OS.
