Penalty u/s 234F is still calculated after 31st July 2021 - Even after Due date Extention - Income Tax

I will suggest you not to file the itr now, file after some days , there are lot of technical issues on site right now

File after some time portal is not working properly

The due date for filing of Income-tax return for the Assessment Year 2021-22 has been extended,to 30 Sep 21 but no relief shall be provided from the interest chargeable under section 234A if the tax liability exceeds Rs. 1 lakh. Thus, if self-assessment tax liability of a taxpayer exceeds Rs. 1 lakh, he would be liable to pay interest under section 234A from the expiry of original due dates which is 31 Jul 2021.for most...assesses.

The above is applicable for section 234A. I stand corrected as below..

Section 234F is penalty for delay in filing the Income-tax return. Since the last date has been extended 30 Sep, no penal Interest is payable for returns filed till 30 Sep 21

I was compiling my return on the filing utility today. Surprisingly the 234F fee is sitll showing even when my tax paid is in excess of what is required. Infosys screw up is not over yet...

Yes. Even today if you try to file your ta return fir AY 2021-22, 234 F penalty of Rs 1000 is showing up despite the fact that the last date for filing has been extended till 31 December 2021.

Just send a grievance after logging in and wait for the correction by Infosys on the portal. Don't file the return as yet and pay extra Rs 1000 and hoping for a refund.
