Password protect your word file!

We all use Microsoft Word to create documents.

and some times we dont want other people to access our documents

specially when you are on a shared computer in your company and you may have your certain secret data stored in your word document that should not be accessed by your boss or other employee’s.

To deal with such a situation Microsoft word 2007 integrated a security feature in Microsoft word so that you can password protect your files.

just follow these simple steps to make your document protected

Click on the Microsoft Office Button present on the top left corner of the window.

Now Click on the Save As option

Now a new window will pop up.

Click on Tools option at the bottom of the window.

Now you will have two options.

You can select either one or both options

One is Password To Open it will ask for the password every time the document is opened.

So to view the document you have to enter the password first.

Second is Password To Modify it will ask for the password every time somebody tries to modify the document.

Can you suggests password to protect to folder..............??????????????

Here is the file as to how make a folder invisible.

Here is file regarding how to lock files without software.

thanx a lot.

If you want to protect the files and folder of yours, first assess, from which type of person you want hide it,

1. From some one who is not so well versed in computer system,

2. From expert,

There is no chance with the second one, if he is smart, (he ought to be, if he is an expert), forget it,

With first types,,,, If you use windows,

What you can do,,

a) Make folder name more than, 256 char long, that way, when ever some one tries to open the folder he will get the error message, and when you want to have the access, rename with less then 256 char,

b) Windows associates the file extensions, with its default programs, say *.DOC, *.DOCX when clicked, will evoke the MS-Word to open the file, what you can do is , change the extensions of the file so , that when some one tries to open the file, incompatiable programs will be opend which can't read the right format,

Like say, .DOC have coding that only a word prosessor will be able to understand, if you change the .DOC to say , .AVI or .XLS , windows will tell media player or MS-Excell to open the file, that will result in an error message, saying the file is corrupt,

c) Or you have the option of having protected, login, and keep all your files in default folders in Documents and Settings,

e) Or work, like an Russian, keep all your files in system folder, it will be normally in C:\>Windows\

f) Other method is to hide your files inside the pictures, yes in pictures,,,,

compress the files you want to hide inside the picture using WinRaR or 7Zip or any other compressing software,

for example, let us name picture file as MyPics.JPG and files to be hidden as HIDDENFILES.RAR

Go to Command Prompt - Start - Run - Type Command, or CMD and press enter,

Black screen with C:\>Documents and Settings\Desktop or something like this will appear,

type in the command

copy /b MyPics.JPG + HIDDENFILES.RAR  MyPics.JPG (press enter)

screen will show something like this,

MyPics.JPG

       1     File(s) copied.

, now your file is hidden in the picture,

when ever you want to use your files,

just right click it, and select Open with... from the menu

and use WinRaR, or any other decommpressing software that you may have and extract it,

thanx........
