It is the biggest leak of confidential documents revealed how the wealthy and powerful use tax havens to hide their wealth.
The leak of 11.5 million confidential documents equivalent to Indian Population were leaked from a 40 years old Panamanian law firm called ‘Mossack Fonseca’ helped clients, dodge sanctions, launder money and evade tax.
According to the documents, 143 current or former world leaders using offshore tax heavens directly or indirectly.
The Indian Express has revealed that, more than 500 Indians figure on the firm’s list of offshore companies, foundations and trusts. There are also 234 Indian passports (handed over by clients as part of the incorporation process.)
