PAN Mandatory for DIN

Dear All,

PAN is mandatory to obtain new DIN for all Indian Nationals.

Registration of PAN for existing DIN is compulsory. Last date for registration of PAN is 31-05-2011 by filing DIN 4, otherwise existing DINs may not be active.

Whether DIN-4 is required to be filed for directors who are foreign nationals but having PAN Number?

At the time of application for PAN these foreign directors did not have their PAN and hence DIN was obtained based on Passport. However, these foreign directors have now obtained PAN and whether it's necessary to file DIN-4 in such cases?
