You better ask for PAN Card xerox copy.

simply go to incometaxindia.gov.in

in left hand u see a tab named pan> know your pan

just enter the required detail and u know the correctness of  the pan

if it is company you can chk the exact name in nsdl direct tax payment form

if it is a firm or proprietory firm you ge the individual name you may need to chk with your service provider

by placing dummy entries in challans except PAN number. your full name displayed - OR

This aug-15th saral tax office came out with PAN validation utility file -FREE. goto this site . Type your PAN . get your name.

Type the PAN number here to get the name of the PAN card holder. This is the simplest way till now.

IT dept should made PAN details available to public, when it expects correct PAN to be quoted. There are equal number of bogus PANs in circulation. Any one can create a PAN card. And there is no harm at all. Bankers need to verify  PAN often.

you can check the correctness of pan at incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. on this site,  go to services> know your juridictional AO> enter PAN. It will provide the Name of PAN holder along with other juridictional informaton of the assessee.
