Overseas funds coming in to indian resident

Sir, funds are being flown directly from overseas to resident Indian savings bank account, ie son residing overseas is sending the amount to Mummy residing in India without through either NRE or NRO. So any tax implications in the hands of recipient and she is also not income tax filer.

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses the tax implications for an Indian resident receiving funds directly from overseas into their savings account, without using NRE or NRO accounts. While funds already taxed in the country of origin may not attract Indian income tax for the recipient, it is generally advisable to file an IT return in such scenarios. This is particularly relevant if the recipient is not currently an income tax filer.

If the amount is already tax paid in the country of origin. Transfer from son to mother's Indian account will not attract any income tax.

But it is always advisable to file IT return in such cases.
