Hi friends,

I have a query on online rectification. I have submitted my uncle's income tax return online within prescribed time and there was a refund but although there was mismatch in refund as per form 16 and tax credit statement 26AS, It was higher in form 16. I sybmitted as per form 16. Subsequently as usaul my uncle got refund cheque as per Form26AS, which is much lower than form16. After that It was discovered that there was a calculation mistake in GTI and in TDS also on the part of my uncle's employer but they rectified it. After that I filed online rectification return . My question is whether I am eligible to file rectification for reduced GTI and for correct TDS and if it is yes, then how long it will take in CPC bangaluru to refund the amount.

Please help me.....

First of all I would like to state that rectification can be made only in case of any mistake apparent from the records.

In my opinion your case does not involve any apparent mistake but the gross total income itself is totally changed so you will have to file revised return.

Further as far as difference between TDS credit as per 26AS and TDS certificates in possesson is concerned you can claim the amount of TDS even in excess of credit shown in 26AS by submitting a correspondence letter along with copies of TDS certificates which you want to claim with jurisdictional income taxofficer.
