CA held for Rs.77 lakh bank forgery

The MIDC police recently arrested Anita Chaudhary, a chartered accountant (CA) and her three accomplices Anil Shelar, Shreeshaila Sandimanithree and Suresh Joshi on charges of cheating and forgery.

Chaudhary had applied for ICICI home loans under the pretext of buying the house, which she already owned. She managed to get the loan sanctioned by submitting forged documents.

“Rs77 lakh was sanctioned for the flat in Kandivli. Later, they opened a fake account in another bank at Marine Drive and withdrew the money,” said inspector, Mohan Waghmare.

“Bank’s vigilance department found out that she had taken a loan on the same flat from IDBI bank by producing original documents,” added Waghamre
