I have been shortlisted by olam international.

However I am a little worried about their notorious placements in africa.

If anyone knows about the place of posting for this year recruits, please let me know as I am not able to connect to the ppt link of olam in the cmii website.

If any one knows any other details, please feel free to share and if you also know the previous year recruits i.e. their profile id in this site or any other social networking site or their mail ids, please let me know so that i will personally enquire the details with them ie the working conditions, take home pay etc.

HI Friends,

I am Rahul Rustagi ( they call me RUSTY) & i’m from New Delhi. I Completed my CA, CS and CWA in 2010, I was hired by Olam International from CA Campus as Management Trainee and I find myself as finance manager based in Ghana (West Africa).I got opportunity to be a part of Olam International after a rigours interview with HR & Functional head same time last year (2010). We were the lucky four in numbers who got selected through Delhi and Chennai Campus. Today all 4 of us work in 4 different parts of the world. To all 4 of us ( MT_2010 batch & our Seniors) Olam must have happened By-Chance & we stick By-Choice.............

I was also worried like you when i was applying to Olam International for positions in Africa ( We had our bit of questions on Africa besides relatives and friends throwing questions on Africa @ us......today i go back to my friends and relatives and educate them about their lack of General Awareness, and i’m proud to say no one has seen the world as much as i have @ my age). Anyone thinking of Africa will imagine life in perils over Safety ,Work Culture, Society, Profile, People and etc.). But after I landed into africa my all worries got fully resolved because company handles employee like nobody’s business. (Its like Highly Productive Assest in Balance Sheet). After being in Africa, i wouldn’t wish to trade myself for any other assignment back home. So please dont worry about Company or any of it’s operating geography.

Olam is one of the best company to join and for your information, olam will recruit only Rank Holders or First Attempt Chartered Accountant. In 2010, Olam recuirted 20+ Trainees ( For Finance as well Operations ). And all the operation guys are from Top B-School like (IIM's, ISB, IIFT to name a few). I can proudly tell you, i’m not an employee but an entrepreneur. All trainees are supposed to EXCEL in their 6 months of training programme, let me assure you......their training programme makes men out of boys (like we transformed ourselves from Boys to Men...... & let me also assure you it’s tough and very very very tough training) !!!!

I've worked with the company too..and I would say have an open mind to any job or role or location. The world is changing all the time, and we have to get used to managing in every situation and learning new skills. I can concur that this would be the best training you would recieve in your lifetime, more than what you have learnt in MBA/CA. So use the training well, and learn how to be an entrepreneur in challanging situations. Africa is no different from India, and you can always manage in every situation!. The world needs more entrepreneurs and job creators rather than job seekers. So take it as an experience to learn something new and contribute to society!.
