19 December 2011ONE OF MY NEW CLIENT WAS NRI IN A.Y. 2008-09 . HE HAS RECD RENT OF Rs. 15 LACS & RECD INTT ON SAVING BANK ACCOUNT ON THAT YEAR . BUT DUE TO MISTAKE By CA STAFF HIS RETURN WAS FILED AS RESIDENT. NOW WHAT REMEDY IS AVAILABLE. ALSO PLS SUGGEST WHAT IS HIS TAX LIABILITY AS AN NRI FOR A.Y. 2008-09.

for NRI TAX DEDUCTED UNDER SEC 195 @ 30.9%
if tax is proper deducted then no problem
ask your ca to revise the return
TDS =1500000*30.9%=463500

FOR getting Tax benefit there is not any diffreance whether it is residenat or NRI
NRI take the same benefit as resident
same way of calculation of gross taxbale income
