I have got below notification from Income Tax department.

"Amount paid/credited as interest and winnings from lottery, crossword puzzle, races etc. in Form 26 AS is more than the Income from other sources shown in Return of Income."

It was my mistake that I did not file the taxes propelry. I had forgotten to declare the interest receved on from the bank. Please let me know what should i do now ?

How should i respond to them ? Can I file a revised return now  and pay the interested that I should have paid ?

Yes you can file revised return but if the notice is u/s 139 (9) reply to notice and offer it to tax.

Hi Sir,

Should I ask them If I can file 139(5) revised return ? Or just tell them that I have already filed revised return or in the processof doing so?

Infact I have not started filing revised return. I hope there is no penalty on me by them.

Thanks,

how do we know type of notice I just got a notice that go to website and check esahyog pending action. it does not say which kind of notice is this

notification ? or notice ?

and under which section it is issued? if issued u/s 139(9) or 142(2) then no use of filing revised return but you have to face the AO. however upon getting a glimpse of notice ( if possible then pls uplod) clear reply may come

Please see attached file. I did not get any letter from them but an SMS and asked to check esahyog on their website. please see attached document which has screen shot

that is not a notice...its a demand...u have to respond to the demand (accept or decline with reason)

So i just tell them as part of response that I agree there is a mis-mtach and I will file revise tax return 139(5) . Am i right sir ?

To my knowledge I think no need to file the revise return just put as Demand is correct then if there is refund in this is return they will deduct the outstanding demand and give you the balance amount. If no refund then they may ask you to pay the balance demand. Experts please correct me if I am wrong.
