I have recieved a notice under section 143(1) from IT department.

I have filled 1Lakh under section 80C and 4000/- under section 80TTA. As per my calculation i paid tax after dedcuting 1,04000 /- from my salary. But as per notice i need to pay tax after deduction of 1,00,000 /- from salary.

Ques 1. Is it really true, i thought 80TTA deduction upto 10,000 /- is over and above 1Lach deduction.

Anyways, i filled a challan for tax corresponding to 4,000. Now when i am trying to fill return u/s 154 and category

"Tax Payer is correcting data for tax credit mismatch only" , i have to attach xml file based on ITR-1 , which is again calculating tax, based on my original return and not as mentioned by IT u/s 143(1)

Ques 2 :- Should i reply to CPC, Banglore in written about the problem, since 1 month has already passed ?

Ques 3 :- If my original calculation was fine, then what about extra money that i have paid ?

Amit.

first of all had you add the saving interest amount in your total income. and then it can be deduct from total income. if you not then you have to pay the tax on amount of Rs 4000.
