Notice u/s 143(1a)

TDS 665 views 3 replies

Hi,

I have a client who is a salaried taxpayer and has TDS deducted for AY 2010-11 which is also showing in Form 26AS in the Income Tax site. However he has recently been furnished with a notice u/s 143(1A) demanding tax for AY 2010-11. Please note that he had manually filed the return for that assesment year. Also there is no income besides salary. How to rectify the particular order? Please advice.

Meet with the Assessing officer along with a Letter (containing the issues in such notice) and also a photocopy of 26AS showing the effect of such TDS.

since the return has been filed manually, so it cannot be corrected online..

Thanks for your reply. Also can you please let me know if manual return filers will not be getting assessment order u/s 143(1) and if they do to which contact detail of the assesee it will be send? Actually he is in Sydney right now so is there no way this can be done online?

AO can rectify the mistakes after verifying through 26AS immediately.

and after such rectification, ask him to give a printout of such order, or such order can be sent to the e-mail address of your assessee.

But its better to take the printouts rather than waiting for e-mail.
