my father holds 3 FDs with IoB, Chennai. During FY 15-16, tds has been deducted to the tune of Rs. 754/- on the int credited. For filing IT returns, my dad has asked for the cert. and the Bank issued a letter confirming deduction, since Banker cud not get the Cert from their auditors. My dad filed his return with letter from the Bank. But IT dept has sent Notice asking to pay that Rs. 754/-. pls adv as to how shud i proceed with the Bankers...
check ur 26 as if tds credited or not if yes no need of tds certificates
but u have it as recoard
1. Check whether TDS of Rs. 754 is reflected in Form 26AS.
2. Check whether TDS credit has been taken in the return of income filed.
3.Form 16A is required only as a proof of deduction. This is not required if TDS has already appeared in 26AS.

its not there..had it been, IT dept wud not hv sent this notice at all, rite?

IN YOUR CASE BHUVANA TDS IS NOT DEDUCTED ON U R PAN NO.
IT MAY BE DEDUCTED @ 20% U/S 206A
PLZ ASK FROM BANKER AND GET REFUND OF YOUR TDS IN YOUR ACCOUNT
